I thought I'd add the pic from seeing the Lower Basic School children at work at the school well in the Garden at the well. My local primary school has an allotment - where they've grown all sorts of useful things - so I was interested to see this project and to tell our allotment association about it, too!

But what amazed me, really (really, really) was how much hard work the children put into the plot - and how much more (agreeing with the Head Teacher) could be achieved with a small investment: better fencing, more bananas, &c &c

As hard as it was to choose, I have added these pictures of the children in my compound who were always full of energy and happiness. They loved the camera and were always ready with a smile and a pose, these happy memories I will cherish forever.

And here's one of Assan and the smoking fish. Just liked the way the light catches the smoke. I've decided not to include the "Steve gets walloped on hash smoke at the football" series of photos. Those can wait for a more private time!

It was really hard to choose a favourite photo, but I think it has to be this one, for the look of sheer joy on her face and the snotty nose that was a constant feature! This is Muna, the youngest child in my compound. She's six years old and attends the TARUD pre-school. She's a beautiful girl, and she loves to be the centre of attention!

In contrast to the colourful Pre-school classrooms, here is a picture of a Lower Basic classroom. Grade 4 or 5 I think. This room was used to teach Science in.

61 pictures, in the end, on my camera. "Best picture" doesn't necessarily mean "best picture to sum up the experience," or even "picture of best moment," so I've gone for that summing-up type pic, rather than technical brilliance or my best experience. It's one of the pre-schools I visited, maybe the brightest classroom I saw that week. Nick S
